E.D. Daniel Scholarship and Madeleine Capicchiano Bursary for Honours Students

The E D Daniel Scholarship worth $4000  and the Madeleine Capicchiano Bursary, worth $2,000, will be offered to female students enrolled at a Victorian university in 2013, in the fourth year of an undergraduate degree which has an identifiable honours component.  For the Madeleine Capicchiano Bursary, preference will be give to an applicant who is conducting research on issues of human rights and/or social justice at the local, national or international level.

 

To be eligible for these awards, you must meet the following criteria:

·         Female gender

·         Australian citizen or permanent resident

·         normally resident in Victoria while studying

.         enrolled in the Honours year of an undergraduate degree at 31 March 2013

·         enrolled at a Victorian university or a Victorian campus of the Australian Catholic University in 2013

 

Note that students in Engineering, Medicine and some other courses that do not have an identifiable honours year are unlikely to be eligible.

 

International students are not eligible for these awards. 

 

You must also demonstrate to the satisfaction of Graduate Women Victoria that you have been or are overcoming significant disadvantage in pursuing your studies.

 

Significant disadvantage may include:

·         Financial difficulty or low income

·         English as a second language

·         Migrant or refugee status

·         Disability or medical condition

·         Identification as Aboriginal or Torres Islander

·         Delay or interruption to career or studies because of family/caring responsibilities

·         Geographical isolation

 

Winners are expected to attend the Scholarship Presentation Day and give a brief presentation.  Scholarships will only be awarded to students who are enrolled on Scholarship Presentation Day, normally held on the first Saturday in June.

and give them to referees with the request that the reference be given in time for forwarding by the closing date. 

The Scholarship Sub-committee of Graduate Women Victoria reserves the right to contact referees for further information.

 

Closing date: 31 March

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please note:  we require four (4) collated copies of all documents including the application form.  If a complete set of 4 copies of all documents is not received the application will not be processed.
