William & Elizabeth Fisher Scholarship and Bursaries for Postgraduate Research Students 
Winner 2008 The William and Elizabeth Fisher Scholarship, valued at $6,000 and three Bursaries of $3000 each will be offered to female students who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents enrolled in 2013 at a Victorian university, undertaking postgraduate research degrees. One Bursary is named to honour the memory of the late Nancy Millis, a long term member of Graduate Women Victoria and a distinguished scientist. The other two Bursaries are named 'In Memory of Feminist Fathers'. To be eligible for these awards, you must meet the following criteria: · Female gender · Australian citizen or permanent resident · Normally resident in Victoria while studying · Enrolled in a post-graduate research degree at 31 March 2013 · Enrolled at a Victorian university or a Victorian campus of the Australian Catholic University in 2013 Winners are expected to attend the Scholarship Presentation Day and give a brief presentation. Scholarships will only be awarded to students who are enrolled on Scholarship Presentation Day, normally held on the first Saturday in June. You must also demonstrate to the satisfaction of Graduate Women Victoria that you have been or are overcoming significant disadvantage in pursuing your studies. Significant disadvantage may include: · Financial difficulty or low income · English as a second language · Migrant or refugee status · Disability or medical condition · Identification as Aboriginal or Torres Islander · Delay or interruption to career or studies because of family/caring responsibilities · Geographical isolation Note that students enrolled in a post-graduate coursework degree are not eligible for this scholarship.
